Description: Welcome to Hoopenburg Guest House (GPS: -33.825970, 18.819231)

In the heart of wine country, Hoopenburg is only half an hour away from most major Cape attractions, and is therefore an ideal base from which to explore the Cape Peninsula.

We are situated on Hoopenburg Wine Estate, which forms part of the famed Stellenbosch wine-route. Set in a picturesque garden, with magnificent views of the Stellenbosch mountains, Hoopenburg Guest House is a haven of peace in one of the most beautiful parts of South Africa.

Sit outside on a summer evening, and watch the setting sun paint the mountains in shades of pink and gold, while deciding which of the Cape’s varied attractions to explore next. In winter, indulge in the glowing warmth of the fireplaces, with a glass of noble red wine in hand.

In the morning, allow nature’s alarm clock to wake you, as the bird chorus, mingled with the calls of geese, ducks and chickens, celebrates the start of another glorious country day.

Accommodation & Facilities

Hoopenburg Guest House has five comfortably furnished rooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. Each room has television, coffee making facilities, hair-driers, and heaters.

Relax in our comfortable lounge and delightful breakfast room, both with cosy fire-places for winter. During summer, guests can enjoy our delicious country breakfasts al fresco at the poolside.

The north-facing pool looks onto the vineyards, with Table Mountain in the distance, and is a perfect place to relax and unwind.

Our Rooms

Rooms 1 and 2: Private entrances, twin beds, en-suite bathrooms with shower.
Room 3: Garden-facing bedroom with queen sized bed, flowing into attached bathroom with bath.

Functions & entertainment

Our picturesque garden is ideally suited for intimate wedding receptions, birthdays, childrens’ parties, and other functions. Two conference options with up to 16 delegates can also be comfortably accommodated (see further down for details and rates).

Children enjoy feeding the ducks, geese and chickens and playing with our two dogs. Fishing in our two dams is always a delight for them, as are games on the large lawn and in the pool. Braai next to the pool, with beautiful views of Table Mountain and the Stellenbosch vineyards.

Conferencing

Our executive lounge with ten-seater boardroom table, plush sofas and solid wood furniture has specifically been designed for conferences with up to 10 delegates, and is ideal for strategy meetings or client contact events.

A larger, less formal venue provides seating for up to 16 delegates, and is ideal for training sessions.

The garden and large lawn and the rest of the farm is often used for team building activities.

All conference equipment such as data projector, screen, flipchart, CD player, and wireless internet are included.
See below for conference packages and rates.

Attractions and things to do

The beautiful towns of Stellenbosch and Paarl are only ten minutes from Hoopenburg. Both towns are steeped in history, filled with fine restaurants, and are surrounded by some of the most famous wine-estates in the Cape. Other famous destinations like Franschhoek, Bloubergstrand and the V&A Waterfront are only 30 minutes away.

Within a half hour's drive are numerous splendid golf courses, including Devonvale, Stellenbosch, Kuils River, Pearl Valley, Erinvale, De Zalze, Somerset West, and Boschenmeer.

Other attractions within easy reach of the guest house include Eaglevlei art gallery and restaurant, Ludwig’s Roses, Butterfly World (the largest butterfly park in South Africa), Joostenberg restaurant, delicatessen and farm produce, Drakenstein Lion Park, Le Bonheur Crocodile Farm, Giraffe House Wildlife Centre, and many others.

All the major attractions of the Western Cape are within easy reach for day trips.

But if you feel like simply taking it easy, then soak up the sun and relax at our sparkling pool, overlooking the vineyards, with Table Mountain in the distance, or sink away in one of the sofa’s next to the fireplace in the lounge, with a bottle of good wine, local cheese and a good book.

We look forward to see you!
